KUCHING: The Sarawak Government’s Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) initiative has continued to provide much-needed relief to recipients, with many expressing gratitude for the aid. The programme enables beneficiaries to purchase essential goods conveniently, easing their financial burden.

A survey conducted by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) found that recipients were highly satisfied with the assistance and hoped that the initiative would continue annually.

“This assistance is very helpful. It allows me to buy essential items, and I even have some balance left to prepare for Ramadan and Hari Raya.

“Even if this aid is only for this year, my family and I will always remember this support from the Sarawak Government,” Fizal said.

Senior citizens Sapawi Joll and Ali Asghar Khan Sabir Ali Khan also expressed appreciation for SKAS, highlighting its effectiveness in ensuring that aid is used for essentials.

“This initiative truly reflects the government’s goal of providing real help to those in need. If we were given cash, it might be spent quickly, but with this system, we can buy what we actually require,” said Ali Asghar Khan.

Assistance for Different Categories of Recipients

Mohd Afiq Zakwan, a recipient under the Bachelor (Bujang) category, was grateful for the RM250 assistance, noting that it significantly eased his expenses.

“I am very grateful for this aid, as many people genuinely need it. RM250 is a substantial amount for a single person, and it has certainly helped ease my burden,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Norasikin Bolhi and Ajibah Bolhi, who received RM800 under the Household (Isi Rumah) category, praised the convenience of using the Sarawak Pay (SPay) system.

“We still have some balance left to use next month. It’s very easy to use—just show the SPay, and that’s it. Our children even taught us how to use it,” they said.
