KUCHING: The Sarawak Government, through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), has officially launched an improvement project for Taman Seng Goon Community Park in the Batu Kitang constituency.
Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang stated that the main objective of the project is to enhance the park’s facilities and better serve the needs of the local community.
“This project will focus on upgrading the park’s infrastructure, particularly the roads and pavements, to ensure the area is safer and more user-friendly,” he said during the launching ceremony on Tuesday.

Upgrades to Solve Key Issues
One of the major concerns raised by residents was the overgrown grass between the tiles, which made the park uneven and difficult to maintain. To solve this, the project will install a two-inch cement coating (BMC) to prevent weeds from growing, ensuring a stable and smooth outdoor surface.
Additionally, broken park roads will be repaired and resurfaced, making it more accessible for visitors. The drainage system will also be improved to prevent waterlogging, particularly during heavy rains.
“The project design considers feedback from regular park users, especially those who come for tai chi and bejuging. By improving the infrastructure, we hope to encourage more people to engage in outdoor activities,” Dato Lo added.
More Parking for Visitors
To accommodate the growing number of visitors, the project will also increase the number of parking spaces. This will make it more convenient for families and fitness enthusiasts to visit the park.
The initial budget allocated for this project is RM100,000, but additional funds may be provided if needed.
With these enhancements, Taman Seng Goon Community Park is set to become a more vibrant and welcoming space for residents of Batu Kitang. — UKAS EDITION
