Victim Found in Living Room of Burnt Two-Storey House
RANAU: In a tragic incident early this morning, a teenage girl was found dead following a devastating fire that engulfed a two-storey house in Kampung Lasing. The blaze was reported at 1.30 am.
The Head of the Ranau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Assistant Fire Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib, confirmed that the body of the 15-year-old victim was discovered in the living room on the ground floor once firefighters managed to extinguish the flames.
Desperate Rescue Attempt by Uncle
Reports indicate that during the incident, the victim’s uncle made a valiant attempt to save her. However, his efforts were thwarted by the intense smoke and raging fire, making the rescue impossible.
The emergency services received the distress call at 1.36 am. An Emergency Service Assistance Unit (EMRS) and eight firefighters were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Firefighting Efforts and Discovery
“Upon arriving at the scene, the fire was reported to involve a two-storey house completely burnt down,” Ridwan stated. The firefighters immediately began extinguishing operations using one stream of two jets sourced from their machinery.
The fire was brought under control by 2.55 am, at which point the teenage girl was found collapsed in the living room. Her body was subsequently removed from the scene and handed over to the police for further investigation.

“After ensuring there was no further danger at the scene, the operation concluded at 4.26 am,” Ridwan added.
