“The total burned area is estimated to be 60 percent of the house structure,” said Pandi.
Firefighters worked swiftly to control the blaze, using two 200-foot long hose reel streams with one nozzle, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant. After nearly two hours, the fire was successfully extinguished, and the operation ended at 2:36 am.
House Owner and Family Members Safe
Authorities confirmed that the house was occupied by 71-year-old Lee Gek Eng and three other family members, who all managed to escape safely.
The cause of the fire and the total damage are still under investigation. Two police officers were present at the scene to assist with security control throughout the operation.
A total of eight firefighters and one LFRT fire engine were deployed to handle the situation.
Authorities urge the public to always check electrical wiring and home appliances to prevent similar incidents. Further updates on the cause of the fire will be provided once investigations are complete.
