KUCHING (Jan 6): A self-accident at Mile 29 along Jalan Kuching-Serian left three men injured today, prompting an emergency response from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
Bomba reported receiving a distress call about the incident at 1.43 pm. Responders from the Serian Fire Station were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, they discovered a car had veered off the road and plunged into a roadside drain.
“The personnel extricated the injured victims and provided initial medical assistance to them,” the department said in a statement.
The victims include a 23-year-old man who suffered minor injuries, while two 21-year-olds sustained more severe injuries. One of the younger victims fractured his left leg, while the other suffered both a fractured left leg and hand lacerations.
Bomba’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit transported two of the victims to Serian Hospital. The third victim was taken to the same hospital by an ambulance from the Health Ministry.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident. Motorists traveling along Jalan Kuching-Serian are reminded to exercise caution, especially during unpredictable weather conditions that can affect road safety.
