KUCHING (Jan 14): A horrifying accident on Jalan Teo Kui Seng this afternoon claimed the lives of four individuals and left five others injured. The collision involved three cars and two motorcycles, turning the bustling road into a scene of chaos and tragedy.
Dashcam footage circulating on social media captured the devastating moment an out-of-control car, traveling from Jalan Lapangan Terbang towards Jalan Stutong Baru, veered off course. The vehicle soared into the opposite lane, violently colliding with multiple vehicles.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 12.59pm reporting victims trapped in the wreckage. Firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya and Batu Lintang stations rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations.
“Among the nine victims, four were pronounced dead at the scene. They include a woman, a man trapped in a Proton Saga who had to be extricated using rescue tools, and two other men,” said a Bomba spokesperson.
Medical personnel confirmed the fatalities at the site, while five injured victims were taken to the hospital. This group includes:
- A woman in critical condition.
- A man with severe injuries.
- Three men with minor injuries.
The police have launched an investigation into the accident and are overseeing the cleanup operations to restore traffic flow.
