62 Vehicles Inspected, 20 Summonses Issued
The operation saw police inspecting 62 cars, 10 motorcycles, six four-wheel-drive vehicles, and five multipurpose vehicles.

A total of 20 summonses were issued for various offences, including:

  • Driving without a licence
  • Expired licences
  • Lack of insurance coverage
  • Failure to wear seatbelts
  • Illegal exhaust modifications

Supt Merbin stressed that the objective of such operations is to reduce road accidents caused by drink driving.

“Driving under the influence endangers not only the driver’s life but also other road users. These checks will be conducted regularly to ensure road safety,” he added.

The police urge the public to be responsible and avoid drink driving. With year-end festivities approaching, such measures are crucial to keep Kuching’s roads safe.
