Upon arriving at the scene, the operations commander confirmed that the blaze had engulfed two shoplots housing the auto repair shop. The building, measuring approximately 40 x 35 square feet, suffered 70% damage.

While the fire completely destroyed five vehicles parked within the premises, quick action by the firefighters saved four other vehicles from being consumed by the flames.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported during the incident.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department urges business owners and residents to ensure their electrical systems are in good condition and to avoid overloading circuits, particularly in industrial or commercial areas.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety precautions and preparedness to minimise property loss and potential risks to human lives.
