Kapit Bomba station chief Timoty Barat confirmed that no casualties have been reported thus far. However, he warned that the possibility of additional landslides remains high due to unstable soil conditions.

“Kampung Baru is the worst-affected area. Our team has been on-site since last night to monitor the situation and provide assistance to those impacted. We urge residents living in hilly or high-risk areas to evacuate immediately if they notice signs of ground movement,” Timoty said when contacted earlier today.

He emphasized the importance of community cooperation and urged the public to stay alert and adhere to instructions from authorities.

Affected Areas and Emergency Measures

Aside from Kampung Baru, other areas affected include Jalan Airport, Jalan Puan Sri Tiong, Bukit Workshop, Simpang Pantok, longhouses along Jalan Wawasan 2020 Sungai Kapit, Lane 6 Jalan Airport, and Rumah Ringgit/Rumah Ebong.

Bomba teams, alongside local agencies, are actively conducting cleaning and monitoring operations in all affected locations. Timoty assured that updates will be provided regularly as the situation evolves.

Residents are encouraged to report any landslide incidents to the Kapit Bomba station immediately to ensure prompt action.
