MIRI, 17 January – A night of celebration, unity, and tradition was witnessed as His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi Bin Tuanku Jaafar, along with his wife, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Binti Mohd. Sanusi, graced the Grand Chinese New Year Celebration Banquet Dinner 2025. Held at the Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club in Miri, the event began at 8:00 pm.

The distinguished couple’s departure was escorted by YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts. He was accompanied by his wife, Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini Abdul Jabbar. The evening also saw the presence of other key figures such as YB Dato Sri Dr. Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Transport, and his wife Datin Sri Kong Shu Ling, along with YBhg. Dato David Goh Kien Ping, President of the Miri Division Chinese Associations, and his wife Datin Ting Lee Hong.

The celebration also welcomed YB Datuk Hajah Rosey Binti Yunus, Deputy Minister of Women, Family, Welfare, Community Wellbeing, and Child Development Sarawak, and YBhg. Datuk Nguang Hing Teck, Deputy President of the Association. Adding to the vibrancy of the evening were 76 representatives from various Chinese associations across Miri Division.
A highlight of the event was the Yee Sang tossing ceremony, symbolizing prosperity and unity. TYT Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi led the event, joined by the guests of honour and other attendees. As they tossed the Yee Sang, the crowd cheered in celebration, marking the occasion with hopes for a prosperous year ahead.

In his speech, TYT Tun Pehin Sri expressed heartfelt gratitude for the togetherness fostered through this celebration, emphasizing that the event served as a testament to the harmony and unity within Sarawak’s diverse community. He further voiced his hope for the continued strengthening of these values, ensuring the well-being of the people and contributing to the progress of the state and nation.
