KUCHING, 16 March 2025 – The spirit of Ramadan was alive and well this morning as Kampung Haji Baki hosted a Bubur Pedas Offering Program, attended by YB Dato Lo Khere Chiang, alongside Gerald Goh and Diana John and the Head of the Haji Baki Community. The event brought together villagers in a meaningful display of tradition, unity, and cooperation.

Ramadan in Sarawak is incomplete without bubur pedas, a traditional dish that is eagerly anticipated every fasting month. Alongside other popular Ramadan treats such as air katira and bubur lambuk, this spicy porridge holds special significance for the Sarawak Malay community. Unlike bubur lambuk, which is commonly found throughout Malaysia, bubur pedas is exclusive to Sarawak, making it a treasured part of the local food heritage.
