KUCHING (Feb 8): Deputy Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations, and MA63 in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, is set to become the next deputy chief of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) Women’s Wing for the 2025-2027 term.
She will assume the position unopposed, as confirmed when nominations closed yesterday afternoon. The election will be held during the PBB Convention from Feb 14 to 16 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

According to party insiders, the Semariang assemblywoman will take over from Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim, former federal minister and Batang Lupar MP. Other key positions within the Women’s Wing were also uncontested.
Dalat assemblywoman and State Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, remains the Women’s chief. Meanwhile, Santubong MP and Federal Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, retains her position as vice-chief, along with Kota Samarahan MP and current PBB Women Deputy Information chief, Datuk Rubiah Wang, and Umang Nangku Jabu as the additional vice-chief.

Last month, PBB Secretary-General Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi announced that all top five positions in the party’s main body would be uncontested, following resolutions from PBB branches.
Key uncontested positions include:
- President: Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg
- Deputy President 1: Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas
- Deputy President 2: Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan
- Senior Vice-President 1: Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof
- Senior Vice-President 2: Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom
However, there will be contests for four vice-president posts within the Bumiputera Wing and 16 ordinary supreme executive member positions. Meanwhile, the Pesaka Wing is expected to retain its current structure, although new faces may appear in the lineup.
The full list of candidates could be announced by Feb 11, giving members a clear view of the competition ahead.
