KUCHING, MALAYSIA – Padang Merdeka came alive last Sunday with a highly successful Car-Free Day and Unity Program, bringing together fitness enthusiasts, families, and community members for a morning of fun and togetherness. Organized by the Kuching Healthy Running Club (KHRC), the event highlighted the spirit of unity and encouraged a healthy lifestyle among Kuchingites.
The program began at 6:00 AM as participants gathered in high spirits at the SMA spot in front of Plaza Merdeka. By 6:15 AM, a group photo marked the start of the day, with smiles and camaraderie radiating across the crowd. At 6:20 AM, the vibrant community set off on a group run and walk, filling Padang Merdeka with energy and enthusiasm.
A standout feature of the event was the sea of participants wearing pink T-shirts, symbolizing unity and inclusiveness. Those without pink joined in with their own colors, reflecting the welcoming and diverse spirit of the event.
The program concluded at 8:30 AM with a closing group photo session, capturing the memorable moments of a morning well spent. Participants enjoyed bonding with family and friends, making new connections, and embracing the outdoors in the car-free setting of Padang Merdeka.
“This event was a great opportunity to promote health and togetherness while enjoying the beauty of our city,” said a KHRC representative. “The overwhelming turnout and positive energy truly reflect Kuching’s vibrant community spirit.”
The successful event reinforced the importance of fostering unity and adopting healthy habits. Participants left with a sense of accomplishment, eagerly anticipating future gatherings.
