Woman Injured in Two-Car Collision at Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui, Kuching

KUCHING, March 24 – A 43-year-old woman sustained injuries following a two-vehicle accident at Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui here last night (March 23). The incident occurred around 10.27pm and involved a Perodua Viva and a Proton Saga.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), an emergency call was received, prompting the immediate dispatch of firefighters from the Padungan fire station to the accident scene.

“Upon arrival, it was found that the accident involved two vehicles, and a female passenger in the Perodua Viva was trapped in her seat. Firefighters worked to safely extract her from the wreckage,” said a Bomba spokesperson.

The victim was successfully extricated and handed over to paramedics from the Ministry of Health. She was subsequently taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the 50-year-old male driver of the Perodua Viva and the 43-year-old driver of the Proton Saga did not suffer any injuries in the accident.

Bomba confirmed that the rescue operation concluded at 11.13pm.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation by the authorities.

Residents in the area are urged to remain cautious while driving at night, especially along busy roads such as Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui. Motorists are reminded to adhere to traffic regulations and ensure road safety to prevent such incidents in the future.
