SERIAN, 17 March 2025 – The Sarawak-Level Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration Ceremony 1446H/2025M was held with great reverence at the Serian Division Mosque yesterday evening. The ceremony was officiated by YAB Premier Sarawak, demonstrating his commitment to upholding Islamic values and strengthening ties with the local community.
The event commenced with the melodious recitation of the Quran by Encik Mohamad Faizil bin Affandi, the Sarawak-Level Johan Tilawah 2025. This was followed by a special tazkirah (religious talk) on Nuzul Al-Quran delivered by Sahibus Samahah Datu Haji Kipli bin Haji Yassin, the Sarawak Mufti. His insightful speech highlighted the significance of the Quran’s revelation and its guidance for humanity.
YAB Premier Sarawak, along with esteemed guests, participated in the iftar ceremony, sharing a meal with the local Muslim community. The Premier then performed the congregational Maghrib, Isyak, Terawih, and Witir prayers, reflecting his devotion and solidarity with the people of Sarawak.

The ceremony saw the presence of many distinguished guests, including His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, YAB Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi. Also in attendance were His Excellency Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Asfia bin Awang Nasar, Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, along with his wife, His Excellency Dato Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Mohd Iskandar. Additionally, the event was graced by His Excellency Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki, Secretary to the Sarawak Government, and His Excellency Datuk Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman bin Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, among other notable figures.
This annual celebration continues to be a vital platform for fostering unity, enhancing religious understanding, and reinforcing the significance of the Quran in daily life.
