SERIAN: A total of 200 flood victims in Serian received RM60,000 worth of flood relief assistance through the YAPEIM Madani Pilgrimage program. This initiative by the Islamic Economic Development Foundation of Malaysia (YAPEIM) aims to ease the burden of those affected by the recent floods.
Each beneficiary received RM200 in cash and a food supply set worth RM100 during the handover ceremony at Kampung Hulu Serian Hall today. The assistance was presented by Tuan Abdul Khudus bin Mohd Naaim, Chairman of the YAPEIM Board of Trustees.

This is the first batch of aid provided since the flood disaster hit the state last week. Besides Serian, other affected districts include Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Samarahan, and Mukah. YAPEIM is currently identifying other flood-hit locations in Sarawak that require support.

Last year alone, YAPEIM disbursed nearly RM400,000 in donations to benefit over 6,000 individuals in Sarawak. Since its establishment in 1985, the agency has contributed approximately RM710 million to nearly 10 million beneficiaries nationwide.
YAPEIM, an agency under the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), was founded on 13 October 1976 and relaunched in 1984. It plays a crucial role in improving the well-being of the community through various initiatives, including entrepreneurial development, educational support, and community assistance programs for the deserving and needy.
Through such efforts, YAPEIM continues to be a vital pillar of support, bringing hope and relief to communities affected by natural disasters like the recent floods.
