A Spectacular Return to the Stage
The Zephyr Dance Studio once again captivated audiences with their second showcase at the MBKS Kuching Food Festival on August 3. Following the success of last year’s performance, the Lakeside Stage came alive with a vibrant display of talent and passion for dance from 7:15 PM to 11:00 PM.

An Evening of Variety
The evening kicked off with a diverse range of dance genres, including belly dancing, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, modern jazz, Chinese lyrical, and traditional Sarawakian favorites. This eclectic mix ensured there was something for everyone, showcasing the versatility and talent of Zephyr Dance Studio’s performers.
A Heartfelt Storytelling Through Dance
Another highlight of the evening’s lineup was a heartfelt storytelling through dance, inviting the audience to follow the journey of a couple exploring the highs and lows of companionship. The unfolding of their quest for a soulful connection provided an unforgettable evening of dance and rhythm.
A Studio of Passion and Dedication
Since its establishment in June 2022, Zephyr Dance Studio has offered classes in a variety of dance genres to individuals of all ages and backgrounds who are passionate about dancing. The studio’s commitment to fostering a supportive and encouraging environment was evident in every performance.
A Look Back at the First Showcase
Zephyr Dance Studio held its first-ever showcase at the Kuching Food Festival last year, adding color to the vibrant festival atmosphere and providing a platform for dancers, both new and seasoned, to showcase their talent and passion for dancing.
A Celebration of Dance
In the 2-hour-long performance, 43 dancers wowed the audience by delivering a fantastic variety of 22 dance pieces and medleys. “This evening is dedicated to celebrating the art of dance and nurturing the growth of these talents, regardless of their background. Seeing these students perform for the first time is a testament to their dedication and the supportive environment we have created at Zephyr Dance Studio,” said instructor Melissa Kung.
Encouragement and Support
The studio’s commitment to fostering a supportive and encouraging environment was evident throughout the evening. As each new dancer, as young as four years old, completed their routine, the crowd erupted in cheers and applause, instilling in them a sense of accomplishment that will definitely fuel their passion for many more dances to come.
Personal Triumphs
For Dzetty, one of the dancers who took the stage for the first time, it was a nerve-racking yet exciting experience to perform with fellow students in front of the spectators. “This experience has been surreal. I’ve always doubted my ability to dance in front of a huge crowd. But when I walked down the stage after my performance, I got overwhelmed with joy and satisfaction, and deep down in my heart, I told myself, ‘Hey! I did it!’” Dzetty said after the performance.
Looking to the Future
Continued Growth and Opportunities
Zephyr Dance Studio was established in June 2022 and offers classes in a variety of dance genres, including contemporary, lyrical, belly dance, and more. Since its establishment, the dance instructors and students have also performed at social and charitable events, as well as formal ones. The studio plans to recruit aspiring and enthusiastic dancers to form a dance group that will provide performance services for future events.
