In a dramatic turn of events, a bus carrying 41 passengers and a car collided on the 264.5 km mark of the North-South Expressway early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. near the infamous Monora Tunnel, a known accident hotspot.

Bus Overturns After Collision

The bus, which was transporting mostly senior citizens, overturned after hitting a car and subsequently landed in a drain by the highway. The passengers were en route from Kang Keda to a religious event in EO.

Rescue Efforts and Minor Injuries

The Perak Fire and Rescue Department responded promptly to the accident scene. Utilizing hydraulic equipment, rescue personnel managed to extract several victims trapped in the overturned bus. Remarkably, all 41 passengers, along with the bus driver, only sustained minor injuries. They were quickly transported to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment.

Traffic Disruptions

The accident led to significant traffic congestion along the southbound lanes of the expressway, lasting for several hours. Authorities worked to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow as soon as possible.
