BATU KITANG – In a heartwarming act of compassion, Gerald Goh Carrying the charitable spirit of YB Dato Lo Khere Chiang in N13 Batu Kitang (#TeamYBLo) paid a visit to a resident of Kampung Haji Baki who is currently battling stage 4 colon cancer. The visit was not just a show of support but also a mission to provide urgent medical assistance to the elderly man who desperately needed an Oxygen Concentrator to breathe comfortably.

Gerald Goh, who has personally witnessed the painful journey of terminal illness among loved ones, expressed his deep sympathy for those fighting cancer in its final stages. “I have a soft spot for anyone suffering from terminal illness because I know exactly how tough the final chapter of life can be,” he said.

The urgent call for help came from Suzzilawati binti Suhaili known as Sheila, a dedicated member of #TeamYBLo, who highlighted the dire condition of the cancer patient. Despite #TeamYBLo already providing free medical beds and wheelchairs on loan to residents in need within the N13 Batu Kitang constituency, this was the first time they received a request for an Oxygen Concentrator.

Recognising the urgency, Gerald Goh and the team quickly reached out to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia and other charitable groups. After numerous calls and endless efforts, they finally found a generous sponsor willing to lend the vital medical equipment free of charge.

Gerald Goh extended his gratitude to Wan Jenazah, the kind-hearted sponsor, for providing the Oxygen Concentrator, and also to Sheila for her compassion and dedication in helping those in need.

The Oxygen Concentrator was successfully delivered to the patient just a few hours after Gerald’s visit. With the help of this life-saving equipment, it is hoped that the pakcik will be able to breathe easier and experience some comfort despite his difficult journey.

“This is what community spirit is all about,” Gerald said. “When we work together with kindness, we can ease each other’s burdens, even in the darkest times.”
