KUCHING (May 26): The Cat City Bike Week (CCBW) 2024 has emerged as a pivotal event in promoting camaraderie among states and neighboring countries on the island of Borneo. The event, celebrated for its ability to unite enthusiasts through shared interests and hobbies, has garnered praise from Batu Kitang assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang.

Local and International Participation

In his address at the opening ceremony held at Aeroville Mall, Lo commended the event organizers for successfully attracting not only local bikers from Sarawak and across Malaysia but also international participants from Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia.

“CCBW 2024 welcomes not only local bikers but also those from neighboring states and countries to Sarawak,” he remarked.

Strengthening Ties and Promoting Unity

Lo expressed confidence that CCBW 2024 transcends being merely a gathering of bikers. Instead, it serves as a platform for strengthening ties between states and countries on Borneo, fostering unity through shared interests and hobbies. He highlighted the peaceful coming together of bikers from various ethnicities and religions as a testament to this unity.

Emphasis on Motorcycle Safety

The assemblyman also underscored the importance of CCBW 2024 in raising awareness about motorcycle safety. He noted that Bike Week serves as a valuable platform for educating riders on safety practices through seminars and dialogues with authorities. This initiative aims to reduce road accidents involving motorcyclists.

“Bike Week can additionally introduce local arts, culture, and tourism. Therefore, I hope all bikers can become tourism ambassadors for Sarawak when they return to their respective states or countries,” Lo added.

A Display of Solidarity and Community Spirit

Held at Aeroville Mall’s parking lot, the event brought together around 1,500 bikers from across the region, showcasing a remarkable display of solidarity and community spirit. The opening ceremony saw the presence of notable figures including CCBW organizing chairman Abang Nor Nasaruddin Abang Noorzuki, Aeroville Mall director Kapitan Tan Gun Kee, and Harley Owners Group Kuala Lumpur Chapter Malaysia director TJ Rolan.
