Kuching – The spirit of giving and unity shone brightly during the “Ramadan Warmth” charity event, organized by the Federation of Chinese Associations (Women’s Group and Youth Group) in Kuching, Samarahan, and Serian division, Sarawak. The event was marked by a generous donation from the Consul General of China in Kuching, His Excellency Xing Weiping, further strengthening the friendship between China and Malaysia.
The event saw an overwhelming turnout, with leaders and representatives from various organizations coming together to support the initiative. Although Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian was unable to attend in person, MPP Chairman Tan Kai represented him, emphasizing the importance of harmony and unity among Sarawak’s multicultural society. He highlighted how different ethnic and religious groups coexist peacefully in Sarawak, creating an inclusive and vibrant community.

Consul General Xing Weiping played a crucial role in making this event a success. On behalf of the Chinese Consulate in Kuching, he generously donated essential daily goods, including rice and special Ramadan supplies, to support the initiative. In his speech, he reflected on the 50 years of Malaysia-China diplomatic ties, emphasizing the close cooperation between the two nations in various fields. He also noted that the charity effort was not just about providing material aid but about fostering deeper cultural and social bonds between the people of Sarawak and China.
“Ramadan is a month of reflection, dedication, and gratitude. The principles of unity, charity, and mutual assistance in Islamic teachings align with the values of harmony and cooperation in Chinese culture. This charity event symbolizes the deep friendship between China and Malaysia,” said Consul General Xing Weiping.

The event’s success was also due to the dedication of sih hua tong (Dong Ge), who worked tirelessly to bridge communication between the organizing committees and the Chinese Consulate. His efforts ensured smooth coordination, allowing the donations to reach those in need on time. His commitment to fostering multicultural exchanges and strengthening the bonds between different communities played a key role in making this event a meaningful one.

The event was graced by various notable figures, including Hua Zong President Dato Huang Liangjie, Vice President Mr. Zheng Wenxin, Executive Committee Member of Taipei City Mr. sih hua tong (Dong Ge), N13 State Legislator YB Dato Lo Khere Chiang, Kapitan Dato Liu Sile, and representatives from different organizations. Also present were leaders from the Women’s Group and Youth League, members of the local community, and representatives from Masjid Wan Alwi (Tabuan Jaya).
This charity event not only provided much-needed aid to the local Muslim community during Ramadan but also highlighted the strong and growing ties between Malaysia and China.
