This event promises to be a vibrant celebration of the Harvest Festival, welcoming the public to partake in the joyous occasion.

High-profile Attendance Expected

Among the distinguished guests expected to grace the event are Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jafaar and his wife Toh Puan Datin Seri Fauziah Mohd Sanusi. Warm Invitation from Deputy Premier

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has extended a warm invitation to the public, encouraging everyone to join the celebrations and mark this significant cultural event. Uggah, in his Gawai Dayak message, emphasized the importance of safe travel during this festive period. He advised those journeying back to their longhouses to stay vigilant about weather conditions, particularly the risks of rain that could lead to floods or landslides. He also highlighted the necessity of ensuring vehicles are in optimal condition for the journey.

“Drive carefully and prepare well, including checking the weather condition before embarking on [the] journey home. Equally important, please make sure your vehicles are in top running condition,” he stated.

Premier’s Upcoming Visit to Betong

Additionally, Uggah announced that the Premier will be visiting Betong on June 5 for the Gawai Dayak ‘Ngabang’ event at the Tan Sri Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall, starting at 11 am. “This marks the Premier’s first Gawai Dayak visit to the division,” he noted.

Cultural Performances and Entertainment

The Gawai Dayak Open House is expected to attract over 1,000 attendees from various constituencies across Sarawak. The gathering will feature cultural performances by local groups and a range of entertainment activities, ensuring a memorable and festive atmosphere for all attendees.
