SARIKEI, Dec 25 – A 65-year-old man suffered injuries and was rushed to Sarikei Hospital following a three-vehicle collision along the Jakar section of the Pan Borneo Highway earlier today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarikei received an emergency call at 9:50 AM and immediately deployed a team of firefighters to the accident scene.
The collision involved two 4WD vehicles and a Perodua Kembara. The elderly victim, who was trapped in the driver’s seat of the Kembara, required immediate rescue. Firefighters used specialised equipment to safely extricate him from the wreckage.
Once freed, the injured man was handed over to paramedics on standby and transported to Sarikei Hospital for further medical treatment.
In contrast, the drivers of the other two vehicles, aged 57 and 31, were fortunate to escape the accident unscathed.
Bomba personnel also worked diligently to clear debris from the road and ensure the area was safe for other motorists. The rescue operation concluded at 10:50 AM.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Motorists traveling along the Pan Borneo Highway are advised to exercise caution, especially during the holiday season when traffic volume increases.
