SELANGAU: In a harrowing incident today, an Indonesian worker sustained a severe hand injury after his right hand was caught in a meat grinder at Pasar Baru Selangau. The distress call, made at 12:28 pm, prompted a swift response from local emergency services.
Emergency Response and Rescue Operation
Firefighters from the Selangau station, in collaboration with the Civil Defence Force (APM), arrived promptly at the scene. The team found the 21-year-old victim trapped within the grinding machine inside a local eatery.
Upon assessing the critical situation, the rescue team carefully dismantled the machine to free the worker’s hand. Utilizing a structural aluminum malleable (SAM) splint and bandages, they stabilized the injury, ensuring the victim was ready for transport.
Medical Assistance and Aftermath
Following the successful extrication, the injured worker was transported to the Selangau health clinic by an APM ambulance for further medical treatment. The entire operation concluded at 12:55 pm, marking a quick and efficient response to the emergency.
