KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officially launched Proton’s first-ever electric vehicle (EV), the Proton e.MAS 7, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre today, marking a major milestone in Malaysia’s automotive industry. With this launch, Proton enters the EV market with two variants: the e.MAS 7 Prime and e.MAS 7 Premium.
The e.MAS 7 is priced competitively, with the Prime model starting at RM109,800 and the Premium model at RM123,800, both excluding insurance. To celebrate this significant moment, Proton is offering a special RM4,000 rebate for the first 3,000 customers. Additionally, a promotional package worth RM8,000 includes a free 7kW home charger, a complimentary V2L adaptor, and a competitive 1.98% interest rate. The package also includes a five-year unlimited internet data plan, a trade-in rebate from Carsome for Proton owners, and a six-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Speaking at the launch, PM Anwar praised Proton’s efforts in advancing technology and supporting local vendors. He noted that the e.MAS 7 represents a pivotal step toward low-carbon mobility and praised Proton for its commitment to innovation. “This is a milestone for Malaysia, as we continue to embrace sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies,” he stated.
Proton’s CEO Li Chunrong shared his excitement for the future of EVs in Malaysia, promising more products that will meet the diverse needs of Malaysians. The Proton e.MAS 7 has been rigorously tested across 4,000 kilometers of Malaysian roads to ensure its reliability and performance. It features a 12-in-1 Electric Drive System that delivers 160kW of power, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, with a top speed of 175 km/h.
For those focused on range, the e.MAS 7 Premium is equipped with a 60.22kWh battery pack, providing up to 410km of driving range, while the Prime model has a 49.52kWh battery, offering a range of 345km. The vehicle also supports rapid DC fast charging, allowing an 80% charge in just 20 minutes.
