Kuching – The Sarawak Government, led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahaman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, reaffirmed its support for the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA) in building a centralized and robust real estate information system. This initiative aims to enhance the property market’s transparency and growth within the region. The announcement was made at the SHEDA Annual Dinner & Excellence Awards 2024, which carried a glamorous “Hollywood Night” theme and took place on Saturday at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

During the event, the Premier of Sarawak emphasized the Government’s commitment to a productive collaboration with SHEDA. He highlighted the need to establish a professional hub for real estate market development, with Kuching set to become the home of this ambitious project. “SHEDA has been a proactive force in this industry, and on behalf of the Sarawak Government, we hope that this fruitful partnership will continue to benefit the industry as a whole,” he stated.

The night also saw the recognition of various industry players and achievements. Dato Tan Guek Kee from the Lee Onn Group received the prestigious SHEDA Lifetime Achievement Award, while the company itself earned several commendations. Other developers were also acknowledged for their contributions to affordable and innovative housing solutions, including Green Summit Development Sdn Bhd and Lafrowda Land Sdn Bhd. These awards reflect SHEDA’s commitment to recognizing quality developments that meet the needs of Sarawakians.

Adding to the significance of the event, Premier Abang Zohari also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SHEDA and the Malaysian branch of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI).
