KUCHING, Jan 19 – A family of seven, including a person with disabilities, was evacuated to safety after floodwaters submerged their home in Kampung Sinar Budi, Jalan Desa Wira, today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported receiving a distress call at 10.20 am. Firefighters from the Batu Lintang station promptly responded and found water levels rising to knee-deep due to continuous rain.
The affected family was temporarily relocated to a futsal court within the village, as the designated temporary relief centre (PPS) has not yet been set up.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation in Kampung Sinar Budi, but no further updates were available at the time of writing.
In a related incident in Lundu, flash floods severely damaged the road leading to Kampung Pasir Hulu Lundu. Bomba personnel from Lundu station responded to a distress call at 10.40 am.
Upon reaching the scene, they confirmed that the road was partially cut off but still navigable by vehicles. By 12.30 pm, floodwaters had receded, allowing vehicles to pass, albeit cautiously.
The incidents highlight the pressing need for preparedness during the monsoon season, as many areas in Sarawak face the risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall.
