BINTULU (Nov 8): Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at a hotel car park in Bintulu late last night.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was found in a pool of blood on the fourth-floor parking area of the hotel around 11pm. Despite efforts from medical personnel, the man was declared dead at the scene.
Bintulu Police Chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali confirmed that authorities acted swiftly after receiving information about the incident. Following a thorough investigation, the police traced and arrested two male suspects, aged in their 40s, in Miri early this morning around 3am. One suspect is a local citizen, while the other is a foreigner.
In addition to the arrests, the police seized a vehicle they believe was involved in the crime.
Supt Nixon said the suspects would be brought to court for remand proceedings as part of the investigation. They are being held under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which deals with charges of murder.
“The police will not tolerate criminal acts, and we will continue to work diligently to bring those responsible for this senseless act to justice,” he said in a statement.
He also urged the public to refrain from making unfounded speculations while the investigation is ongoing. The authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and contact the Bintulu Police Headquarters at 086-318304.
The case remains under active investigation, with authorities determined to uncover the motive behind this tragic incident.
