KUCHING (Jan 16): Sarawakian boxing star Daeloniel ‘Kilat Boy’ Mcdelon is set to bring Malaysia’s legendary boxer Sapok Biki to life in the highly anticipated movie Tumbukan Emas. Directed by Jalot Jeman and produced by Kamek Empun Production (KEP), this film is inspired by Sapok’s extraordinary journey as Malaysia’s first Commonwealth Games gold medalist in boxing.
Hailing from Simunjan, Sarawak, Sapok Biki made history in the light flyweight (48kg) category during the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games. His victory not only brought glory to Malaysia but also cemented his legacy as a symbol of resilience and determination.

“Tumbukan Emas celebrates Sapok’s story, which has inspired generations to chase their dreams,” said Jalot Jeman during the movie’s official production launch in Kuching today.

Sarawak’s Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, officiated the launch alongside Sapok Biki himself. Abdul Karim praised the filmmakers for celebrating local heroes and showcasing Sarawak’s creative talents.
“This movie is a proud milestone for Sarawak. It highlights the inspiring story of Sapok Biki and motivates young Malaysians to embrace sports like boxing,” he said.
