MIRI: A 15-metre luxury yacht caught fire at Marina Bay, Miri, in the early hours of the morning, causing panic among nearby residents and marina visitors. Firefighters responded swiftly to the emergency, preventing further damage and ensuring the safety of the area.
Fire Broke Out Before Dawn
According to a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, they received a distress call at 3.44 am. A team from the Miri Sentral Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, we found the yacht 40 percent burned. Our team quickly initiated firefighting efforts using a 400-foot hose stream and a RECEO-concept tank pump nozzle,” the spokesperson stated.

Fire Successfully Extinguished
After a relentless battle against the flames, firefighters managed to bring the fire under control. The operation was officially concluded at 5.05 am, with authorities confirming that the area was safe.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, and investigations are currently being conducted to determine what led to the blaze.
