KUCHING, 31 March – The TYT Sarawak, His Excellency (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd. Sanusi, welcomed a delegation from the Other Religions Affairs Unit (UNIFOR) in conjunction with the Aidilfitri Hospitality Ceremony at the Sarawak State Astana.

The visit, which took place at 3:00 pm, was led by YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of UNIFOR. Accompanying her were prominent religious leaders, including YBhg. The Right Reverend Datuk Danald Jute, Chairman of the Association of Churches in Sarawak; YBhg. Datuk Tay Chin Kin, Chairman of the Malaysian Buddhist Association Sarawak Branch; YBhg. Dato Richard Wee, President of the Federation of Sarawak Temple Association; YBhg. Dato Dr Kalwinder Singh Khaira, President of the Sarawak Sikh Temple Association; YBhg. Dato Shankar Ram Asnani, President of the Sri Maha Mariamman Kuching Temple Association; Mr. Chin Chia Chau, Chairman of the Spiritual Assembly of Baha’is of Sarawak; and Mr. Vijaya Kumar Govindasamy, representing the Malaysian Hindu Sangam Sarawak Branch.

During the event, His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri emphasized the importance of unity and harmony among Sarawak’s diverse religious and racial communities.

“As His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, I place great emphasis on harmony and unity between the multi-racial and multi-religious community. The diversity we have is a valuable asset that needs to be preserved,” he said.

He further expressed his hopes that the spirit of mutual respect and togetherness will remain the foundation of stability, well-being, and prosperity in Sarawak.

The Aidilfitri Hospitality Ceremony served as a meaningful platform to strengthen ties among religious leaders, reinforcing Sarawak’s reputation as a state that upholds racial and religious harmony. — TYT Sarawak
